We started our morning by tracking down a Starbucks which was about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Once we were adequately "caffinated," we headed for a wonderful Saturday market less than five minutes from our apartment. You can buy almost anything at the market. We picked up a roasted chicken, roasted pork and some sausages for our next few meals. Of course we had to get several cheeses. Beautiful produce; lettuces, tomatoes, strawberries and papaya. Here is my new shopping cart full of our food for the coming week. Right behind me is the Eiffel Tower...it didn't show up in the photo but it is there.
oh so nice to have a bag on wheels! Is there no grocery store near by or do you want the Saturday market experience - I think I would want the market also - is this kind of like the farmer's markets here where you can get the best produce ect. during the summer months?
ReplyDeleteYou look quite chic, all dressed up in your Paris go-to-market clothes. Where is their fresh produce coming from, do you know?
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about living in a city is being close to shopping, restaurants, etc. The bad part about living in a city is ... well, being in a city with crowds, traffic, etc.!!! But since you are only doing this for 5 years, what fun and great experiences you are going to have. Oh my gosh, what a drastic change from where you came from to get here. Do Alaska and Paris have anything in common? Have you found a local quilt shop yet? Fabric prices must be so much higher, I would think! And are the fabrics very different? Oh, sorry for all the questions. I am sure you will answer all of these and more in future posts as you settle in. Au revoir et bon chance.
