BOMs Away and Design Wall Monday

I'm trying to get fusible web applique blocks top-stitched. A tedious task. Finished an audio book in two days while stitching. I listened to a Georgette Heyer book, "The Unknown Ajax." I know I read a few Heyer books as a teenager but I certainly don't remember any of them. This book was a fun listen...I will get to hear another book or two before I finish these blocks.

Three finished yesterday.

Halfway there...

Finished the felt ornaments from a Bucilla kit, "Snowmen and Polar Bears."

There is a companion stocking...

I'm linking up with BOMs Away and Design Wall Monday. Good places to visit.

  1. Your blocks are gorgeous! Do you know where I might get the patterns? I'm living in northern Alberta, so a lot of them would be relevant to northern living here. So much detail in your ornaments...you obviously have a lot of patience!

  2. i think I read some Georgette Heyer many years ago but I don't remember now what kind of books she writes but the name sounds familiar.
sounds like a tedious job using the fusible.

  5. 1. I love the way those blocks combine pieced work with applique! It's a really unique look.

    2. Your Bucilla ornaments photo stabbed me with a guilty pang -- I bought a very similar kit over 15 years ago and barely started before stuffing it in a drawer. It has been moved with us three times, and never seen the light of day...

    3. I am unbelievably jealous that you get to live in beautiful Alaska AND in Paris! You are SO lucky!

  8. I am just catching up on reading your blog and find I am in love with your BOM! Well, I love most nature inspired quilts but this one is particularly wonderful and you are doing a great job on it. In the past I have done some fusible work (McKenna Ryan) and never thought about your method of batting, stitching, and then sandwiching. Are you straight stitching all the edges of the fusible designs and are you using invisible thread? I cannot tell from the photo. Re: Your post about the new Dog Park patterns ... I just saw this in the catalog too and noticed the Burmese Mountain dog. Immediately thought of you. I have a friend who is doing the cat version (I think it is called Whiskers in the Wind) but the dog park one would be my choice but the kit is very expensive. And I just saw a litter of those dogs advertised on my local Craig's List. They are in SC but advertised in NC also. They are so cute as puppies and gorgeous as adults. I always enjoy looking at your work. (Sorry for the long comment.)

  9. Hello there! I am an Alaskan living in Texas, so I have to know where you got your blocks! Is it a particular BOM or a project that you have made up on your own? I simply love how they have turned out thus far, it definitely shows you have skills! *\0/* Shanna
