Christmas Sewing

I am working on a secret quilt...our Breakfast Club mystery for the 29th of December. This year I am in the "know" about the pattern. It requires 20 fat quarters and 4 yards of background fabric.

Here's my stack of cut components. I have four blocks made. It is a great pattern. I cannot wait for everyone to see the reveal at the end of our quilting day on the 29th. I am working with Christmas batik fat quarters with gold metallic stamping.

And there is a bonus with this project.
Mini half square triangles.
I am hoping I can come up with a design by the time we meet.

I did finish adding the borders to the Presents quilt. I had enough fabric left over from the fat quarters to make a scrappy red inner border.

And the binding has been stitched onto the Full Bloom quilt. I need to start pecking away at hand sewing the binding.

I still need to write the family Christmas letter. Hubby gets home tomorrow so I will have him be my editor. I try to get it mailed by Christmas...I rarely get it out before the 24th.

I didn't even send out cards this year - hardly anyone that we have always exchanged with do anymore so I will just send out a general Merry Christmas by text to the family I think. Love your quilts!

Well, now you've got me curious about your mystery quilt! Your Presents quilt turned out great! I only just noticed that the block background is made up of different fabrics so having an inner border made with your different reds looks really good.

I love the idea of Christmas batiks....I'll bet I could find some in my stash that I didn't even know were there...Not sure there are as many as 20 but there are at least 5, I'm sure.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours....

Ohh that gold/neutral batik looks gorgeous - can't wait to find out what happens to them all! Read about your adventures in NY on your last post... such a huge mix of emotions... well, I'm glad you are home safe anyway! Hope you and family have a great Xmas!
