Bear Paws in the Studio

A few of you might have expected to see "real" bear paws given some on the critters I see around my Alaska home but today it is just these really cute quilt blocks under construction.

I'm tackling my kit from Hancocks of Paducah.

New to me in this kit's instructions is using the Easy Angle and Companion Angel. More tedious cutting up front but the Half Square Triangles are the perfect size and the blocks are coming together quickly with nice, sharps points. Love that! I have had this set of rulers sitting in a drawer for many....many years...at least 5 years and possibly as many as 10.  It does make me wonder what other gems I am missing out on in that drawer of rulers!

My evening work has been going slow. I actually have a social life now that I am back home in Alaska...which is wonderful...but that means I am not spending much time on these guys...still...a little time here and there does add up to a completion someday.

I have the easy angle but admit to rarely using it. I need to do some of those setting hst's to for my Lemoyne star which means I should figure out how to use it.
So glad you are able to be visiting with your friends again and your family - I'm sure you missed that while being on your own so much in Paris while hubby was doing his business.

Bonnie Hunter introduced me to those rulers and I have to say, I LOVE them! They are the only way I make triangles anymore. On tip I discovered, besides using the clear Nexcare tape on them to stop them from slipping and sliding, starch your fabric before you cut your strips. That little bit really helps. I use non-aerosol Niagra but Best Press also works well.

I have those rulers... somewhere! Obviously I don't use them as I should. Maybe it's time to pull them out and put them to work. I love your Bear Paw quilt. Great setting and beautiful blue fabrics. And the trees in the border are fun!
