The Stockings Were Hung

Time to break out the Christmas music!

I might get used to this two-hour decorating scheme instead of the two weeks I can spend in Alaska. Of course that also includes doing the outside of the house...no need for outside decorations when living in an apartment.

And it is soooo dark in Alaska...my decorations stay up past New Year's. I miss it!!!

I had my final French visa renewal appointment for the year. Today's appointment was remarkably quick...but only because I was accompanied by a French speaking assistant, who is an American...and who didn't take "No" for an answer.

Tomorrow I will be cleaning the apartment for my son's arrival.

There is a taxi strike going on throughout Paris right now which will impact picking up our son from his flight coming into Charles Degaulle Airport. The taxis block highway lanes...all but one....which grinds traffic to a crawl. I will have to meet him at the airport and navigate the train system and metro system with his big suitcase. A major pain since lots of stairways are involved...very few...if any elevators. Sometimes there are escalators but only going up...and very few of those! It irritates me so much. Not what I want my son to have to navigate after traveling for almost 24 hours.

Time to get back into the holiday spirit.

Oh, I love what you did with your ornaments, Debbie! They look great with the stockings. So sorry to hear of the inconvenience with your son. Thankfully he has you to show him the way back on the train. Enjoy your visit.

It looks fabulous!! It's a good thing to have two mantels to decorate with your stockings and ornaments!

but it is so good that you can meet him at the airport and help guide him through the mess. Your apartment looks beautiful - the stockings so nice and cheerful. Your last Christmas in Paris - enjoy it and soon you will be back in your beloved Alaska - I can't say as I blame you for missing it - I would love to go to Alaska again one day when not on a cruise - not the ideal way to see things I think.

Fun :) My favorite is the ice skaters. I need to finish the last of the decorating. I've been tripping over the remaining boxes for a couple of days! So silly to not be finished already. . .

These stockings are beautiful....after reading your blog lately I've purchased a couple of the stockings and some ornaments to try. Could you share how you finish the stockings? Do you line them?

Your mantels are beautiful! So much work goes into your many stockings and they're all so unique. It's fun to discover the details in them. It's too bad about the taxi strike...but you know, years from now you'll talk about the Christmas in Paris when you had to lug a suitcase up and down stairs and on a metro!
